Blog up on Country Living Website

I finally negotiated the internet browser problems and managed to access the Country Living Magazine blog site.

The point of this is that the magazine is looking for a new columnist and have chosen to search via a blogging competition. This makes the blogs a bit bizarre, instead of the unmediated and informal posts that are done by most genuine bloggers here, the competition drives everyone to hone their writing before posting. And there is some very good writing but somehow it just isn't as interesting as the random posts of El or Heather or Carolyn to name a few. (Sorry forgot to sort out links - use the sidebar)

I decided that it would be pointless to simply double post here and on the CL site so I have decided to do something quite different there, to tell the story of how the business started and then how it works as a rural small business as opposed to a generic small business.

I have decided to be very honest - probably more honest than some of my family will relish. I don't see the point of doing a pastiche of Sue Gaisford, the present columnist from whom it is implied the new columnist will take over.

If anyone want to check it out it is here

Just been over to CL to read your entry, couldn't leave a comment there as I'm not registered. Honest indeed Jane, but then as a regular reader of your blog I wouldn't have expected anything else. Well done and I sincerely hope that it leads to a column.
Best of luck.

Thanks Carolyn - I am uncharacteristically nervous about the CL blog - it seems so much more bumptious to be doing it than my postings here.

Hi Jane,
Hope all is going well with your new plans. Have enjoyed your first 2 parts over at the CL blog - why is it that milestone birthdays seem to get you thinking more about life, I've been like that over the past couple of months as nothing much seems to be straighforward with life at the moment?!
I might get round to doing a blog over there too, but not until the fair is past, too far behind with everything else - ooh to be an organised person, never gonna happen!

Just been to have a read of your CL post and will leave a comment there when I can remember what my CL site log in details are! Really like the what you have written there so far though. Good luck with the competition. From what I've read so far on this blog for the last few months, I think you would make a great CL Columnist.

Honesty is the best policy or at least that's how the saying goes...

Be yourself, if they want a clone then maybe it's not for you

Oh good luck, good luck - and yes keep it honest and that way you will be able to talk forever.

People feel the heart behind writing so over practiced isn't actually that interesting.

warts n all works best
