Green Gallery Opening

Sally and I set up our stall outside the new Green Gallery this lunchtime - the sun was shining, the birds were singing, you could feel heat bouncing of the pale pink of the outbuilding wall.

By the time the Gallery opened at 2 our basky wee corner had somehow turned into an arctic wind tunneland we were laughingly innappropriate in our dress.

That aside, the afternoon was a good one. It was certainly very busy - for a half hour it was like that episode in Jimmy's Farm where they have to have stewards helping people reverse miles down single track roads and comandeer fields to park in.

The photographs are of Carneval de Nice tulips, a spring window box with muscari 'fascination', narcissi 'baby moon' and tulip 'gavota', and a cow in the sculpture garden - look at those eyelashes!

Glad you had a good (but chilly) afternoon. Those tulips are beautiful. Hope you've found a home for the little dog.

Hi Jane

I saw that episode of Jimmy's Farm a few months ago....still, glad to hear that there was a good turnout.

The flowers are so pretty and I really like that cow!

Hope that you didn't get too cold yesterday.

Thanks for asking after Tim - we have a couple of possibilities for rehoming him - so fingers crossed.

He is a sweet little thing - yesterday the girls tired him out walking him up to the neighbours and back- he spent the afternoon snoozing on a gerden kneeler in the greenhouse and then the evening on his back, lets stright up in the air in front of the fire.

Tulips are my favourite flower, partly because they come in all shapes, sizes and colours.

For such a small, old, and supposedly slow dog he turns out to be a cunning chocolate thief and last night snatched an easter egg out of our youngest daughter's hands.

The most traumatic thing for him is that he has obviously been used to snacking all day and folows me about begging for whatever it is that I am eating.

We are going through a lot of chews.

Thanks for the advice re fig trees - we were able to pick enough figs at the end of the summer last year to make a jar of fig chutney - so all was not lost ( I think it had been warm enough for a second crop) It's obviously a very old and established tree. Glad to see things are looking up for Tim.
