New logo

For the past six months or so I have felt that Snapdragon needed a proper logo - something that could be (in theory) printed on everything from labels to lorries (world domination here we come!).

In the past I have relied on printing things out as I need them and, as I am a really disorganised person, I have tended to begin anew each time. This meant that I had a very changeable image - I didn't even stick to one font - and this is really an attempt to become more professional in outlook and to grow the business.

The logo has been designed for me by Kate Watt, a local graphic designer who is responsible for the distinctive graphic look of Park Life Magazine.

We initally fiddled about with a Snapdragon image - but although it is a good "snappy" name which people remember easily it turned out to be a very weak shape for a logo so we have gone for the much more sparky dahlia.

Now all I need to do is get around to tying up the many many loose ends of the website and get some publicity material printed up in time for the Country Living Scottish Fair in March.

Love the new logo, will be checking the sides of lorries from now on!

I think a logo is important and it should be simple - so stylised is best.

In honesty, I think a logo is not a cerebral thing - it should connect subliminally, and therefore it doesn't matter about the dahlia really

What a great logo. I've been thinking I should get myself into gear and get an image for 'Nonnie'. So far I've managed the colour and typeface I like but no kind of logo. Not easy. Yours is great though. Really simple and stylish.

Hi Jane,
Love the new logo, it took me a while to get it all sorted out, ours is pretty simple which is the best way I think. I have my official label cutter - Gregg!

I think labelling is really important. I tie our logo label on to all bags that leave the shop - lots of people have told me that they are so pretty that they put them on their pinboards or even on fridges!!
Your logo is so pretty but really clear - lovely x

Thank you for your lovely comments - I'll pass them onto Kate.

I wish that I could draw or do graphic things myself - it would make things much much easier.

I did try a simple font based logo like Lisa's last year but somehow it just turned out too weak and didn't really stand out. It looked as though I had simply fiddled about with the font style and colour buttons - which of course I had!

My brief to Kate was that I wanted something that could change colour if necessary - perhaps by season - and still be recognisable.

I am very pleased with what she came up with - I think that Tracey is right - people keep pretty labels - I have a few on my fridge.

What is more, after some work on the website this afternoon at Stirling Enterprise, it is all beginning to come together. It is starting to look like a proper business website (well it will when I have all the text in).

Euan says I have to stop faffing on worrying about the website be more confident - I am obviously boring him!

I think that it is very difficult being confident about things far outside your experience.
